Graduate research assistant Diego Cerna Aragon will be joining a team of scholars at the University of Lima to research the professional practice of journalism in Peru. Thanks to funding from MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives (MISTI), Diego will be part of the project Cartografía de los medios informativos peruanos [Cartography of Peruvian informative media] from June to August 2020, period in which he will be collaborating with the necessary fieldwork to assess the state of journalism in the country. Lead by professor Lilian Kanashiro, faculty member of the Department of Communication, the project is part from a larger global research network – Worlds of Journalism Study (WoJS) – which seeks to produce academic knowledge about the practice of journalism in different regional contexts.
